Edith.

Edith is a GTK4 and libadwaita client for editing files that live on a remote server. Connect over SFTP or FTP, browse the file tree, and open files in a tabbed editor — changes are saved straight to the server.

Features:

• SFTP over SSH, plain FTP, and FTPS with explicit or implicit TLS
• Saved connections with password or key authentication, organised into drag-and-drop groups
• A file browser with sortable columns, multi-select, pinned files, and a breadcrumb path bar
• Syntax highlighting for over 80 languages, Emmet, find and replace, and customisable themes and fonts
• Live editing: files are downloaded to a temporary location, edited locally, and uploaded on save, with automatic reload when the server copy changes
• Open any remote file in a local application, with per-file-type associations you choose
• An image viewer for raster files and a side-by-side preview for SVGs
• Credentials stored in the system keyring, never in plain text on disk
• Upload tools: keep frequently used scripts to hand and upload them to any directory from the context menu

Edith is alpha software — early access for the brave and the bug-tolerant.
